Excerpt for His Playmate

Diego was stopped from leaving Wolf’s bed by a handcuff around his wrist. He had sat leaning against the headrest for the entire day, his body throbbing and his feet aching.

The warmly lit bedroom was large with a connecting bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. It had wide-paned windows that looked out into the darkness. Diego chewed on his lower lip, growing agitated. A cigarette would be nice, especially out on the balcony in the cool night air.

This was some sort of mental torture. Wolf was treating Diego like he was nothing more than a captive. Diego didn’t have much energy left; Wolf was purposely weakening him. Wolf was forcing Diego to be reliant on him. Diego didn’t like being dependent on anyone because it made him powerless. As much as Diego hated to acknowledge it, Wolf had dominated him, and Diego had already submitted.

The door opened, and Wolf walked into the bedroom, a riding crop in hand. Diego couldn’t stop his body from involuntarily tensing, and he narrowed his eyes at the weapon.

“And I thought you had forgotten about me,” Diego said, his tone sarcastic.

“How could I? You’re all I think about,” Wolf said, mocking him.

Diego rolled his eyes. “Get lost.”

Wolf stopped by the bed, never taking his gaze off Diego as he asked, “Did you think about what you’ve done?”

Diego glared at him, but he didn’t say anything. He had tried not to focus on what had happened because losing brought him a great deal of shame. But the memories of what he’d experienced at Wolf’s hands kept filling his mind anyway. Diego had realized that Wolf was always a step ahead of him.

“Diego …”

“Yes, I have,” Diego said bitterly.

“Are you going to strike at me again?” Wolf asked.

“No.”

Wolf looked pleased. “Good. If I’d known the cane would make you submit, I would have used it on you earlier, pet.”

A spike of heat shot through Diego’s body and pooled in his groin. Diego had slept with plenty of men in the past, but no one had taken ownership over him the way that Wolf did. Diego had gotten used to taking care of himself and being independent. The thought of losing his freedom was terrifying. His captor was a threat in more ways than just punishments. “Stop calling me that.”

“You seem to like it,” Wolf said.

There was a small part of Diego that did like it. Because of the way Wolf said it … his voice deep and smooth. The word seemed to roll off of Wolf’s tongue naturally. There was a hint of something in Wolf’s tone when he called Diego his pet, and it wasn’t hate. But it was his enemy saying it to him, and Diego knew that he shouldn’t want to belong to Wolf.

Diego kept eye contact with Wolf, and it was starting to stir up a feeling of vulnerability in him. Here Diego was, naked and chained to a bed, his captor looming over him with a dark smile on his lips and a riding crop in his hand. No one had done this to Diego before, and that unnerved him

The continuation of A Reservoir Man

Blurb

Michael's story continues from A Reservoir Man (2022) where we find him teaching at a university ready to retire. He unexpectedly meets a young man named Ron who becomes his protege and journeys in a haphazard adventure with him throughout America and Europe, each twist and turn of the road bringing unexpected adventures. The journey taken is one of joy, friendship and discovery.

Excerpt

They begin to move closer to Ron, a street light illuminating one of them for a moment; everything else was in darkness. He realized these were some of the kids from the shelter he used to be in. They had a fire in them, maybe it was jealousy that he got out and got on his feet. How did they know that much about Michael? He knew that they could hurt Michael, at his age that could kill him. They could hurt Carol, badly. They might have a knife. He knew how much danger they were in now.

Ron made a move towards the one he recognized, when suddenly all five pounced on Ron, beating on him, taking no break in their punches. One of them picked up Rhonda and threw her against a brick wall. Ron spit blood and, in between blows, tried to move to protect Rhonda. Carol ran to grab Rhonda. She tried to pick her up and saw she was hurt. Ron looked at the young men, spit blood at the closest of them, and screamed, “Fuck you! I hope you all die for what you did to her! Fuck you!”

The noise of this was so loud, a group of people leaving a bar saw the commotion. One of them yelled “Hey! What’s going on there? Hey!” Another woman was dialing for help on her phone. The young men ran away as quickly as possible, disappearing down a dark side street and into the blackness of the night.

They were nearing the back door of the house, Carol carrying Rhonda, with Ron limping on his own. As they approached the door, two of the young men were behind them again, taunting them. He asked Ron if he could meet his boyfriend. Ron lunged at one of them and  fell to the ground. They began to kick him. Carol screamed for help.

One weekend could lead to forever if Jett can take the plunge.

Blurb

Jett didn’t expect to spend the weekend trapped in a remote holiday house with his best friend’s brother. As they try to pass the time, Kian’s bright enthusiasm starts to break through Jett’s gruff defences. When Kian offers to help Jett explore his desires with no strings attached, everything changes.

Fooling around when your heart isn’t on the line is one thing, but when the weekend ends, neither man wants their casual arrangement to end. Past betrayal has made Jett wary of trusting anyone, but even though Kian’s patience seems to be never-ending, Jett knows it’s only a matter of time before ‘no strings’ turns into ‘goodbye’.

Can Jett look past his fear and make the man who’s claimed his heart his?

Take the Plunge is a standalone contemporary M/M romance where a jaded man with a permanent storm cloud over his head falls for a sunshiny optimist. There’s forced proximity, an interfering best friend, swoony moonlight swimming, bi-sexual exploration, and lots of first times.

Excerpt

My head is fucking killing me. My mouth feels like it’s been stuffed full of mothballs. I’m lying on my right side, and that arm is numb. A click echoes through the house. Was that someone closing a door? I wipe my left hand over my face and open my eyes. It’s too dark to see anything.

What the fuck happened last night?

Something whines. Door hinges?

Oh, right. I’m at Rufus’s holiday home in the middle of nowhere. Okay, so it’s not actually his. The house belongs to his granddad, but Rufus is allowed to use it when his granddad isn’t here fishing. The front door hinges have needed oiling for as long as I’ve been coming up here with Rufus and his family.

When we were kids, his family invited me here for a week every summer. Rufus, his younger brother, Kian, and I would go wandering for hours, exploring the woods, chasing each other through meadows of long grass and flowers, and sitting by the lake with our legs dangling in the water. I have lots of good memories of this tiny corner of Scotland.

But reminiscing won’t solve the mystery of my aching head.

The door closes. It’s either the middle of the night or so early the sun hasn’t come up yet, so I’m unsure who’s going where.

I, Rufus, Kian, and some of our friends are here for a weekend of drinking and lazing around. Well, they can laze around. I have work to do as soon as I find some paracetamol and a gallon of water to shift this headache.

A car engine turns on. What the fuck? Tyres crunch over gravel, and then it gets quieter. I try to turn towards the window, but something pulls against my right wrist. Someone groans. I try to move my arm again. Clink. Rattle. Something hard but also soft circles my wrist. What. The. Actual. Fuck?

I twist and flail around, groping for a lamp or a light switch. My neck clicks, and my back aches with the effort. Another groan, a little louder than before. I skid my fingers over a piece of paper before finding a bedside lamp. I flick it on. A golden glow fills the room, and I shut my eyes against the harsh light.

Another groan. “Well, that’s bright.”

Hold up. I recognise that voice.

My right wrist is tugged to the side. Clink.

“Huh,” the voice says.

I rub my eyes and prie them open. I’m lying face-to-face with Kian. Our right hands lie on the pillow between us. Pink fur circles our wrists.

“Huh,” Kian repeats. He lifts his wrist, pulling mine with him. “This must be someone’s idea of a joke.” He kneads his forehead with his fingertips. “So this is what a hangover feels like. I don’t recommend it.”

“Too late.”

“That sucks for us both.” He yawns and closes his eyes.

“Who the fuck would do this?”

Kian shrugs. “Probably Rufus. He never matured past sixteen.”

I sit, dragging Kian upright with me. “Where’s the key?”

Kian tugs me down again. “We can look for it after we’ve slept off these hangovers. Rufus will have it.”

I grunt. “I don’t want to go back to sleep. I want to get these damn things off. What the fuck are they anyway?”

“Handcuffs.”

“I can see that.”

“Why’d you ask, then?”

“Why are they pink? And furry?”

“This book is a dream, a gamble, a utopia, even.”  Kalyan Panja, Bookmarkks.

Excerpt

Michael left for New York on a break. He and Ben stayed at a tenement building in the East Village on the fourth floor. The bathtub was in a small kitchen, but the fire escape was the best. They stayed at the apartment for four days and did not come out except to eat. It was the apartment of his technical director, and it had a great aura. When Michael left to get back to Dover, he felt as if he just left a spa in the Caribbean.

Coming back to Dover, he now faced another problem. Al was feeding the press a lot of false information. Now the press saying that Michael was going to leave the Music Hall and develop a new theatre company at the University. Michael told the press this was not true, that his loyalty to Dover was solid. Michael knew it was time for it to be over, and he submitted his resignation to the board.

There was no pleading by anyone except the staff for Michael to stay. Michael, the community, and the board knew it was time for him to go. A search committee was formed, and Michael was vice chair of the committee. In the following days, Michael told Ben he could not go with him; it was better that he established his own life. Wade was moving with him; Michael secured an apartment in Park Slope. Ben understood and hugged Michael. Michael knew Ben was an Everyman in all meanings of the word.

The board had a challenging time finding a replacement. All the funding sources turned their backs on them since they did not listen to them years ago. Michael knew leaving Ben behind completed the circle that made the magic of Dover. The day he was leaving, Ben came to the apartment with a boxed lunch and lots of hugs. Michael got into the car and drove off, never looking back. He would always love Ben.

What can you do when love takes you by surprise? Just breathe.

Blurb

Cole Rinne is a model with an impossible problem. An invasion of his privacy ends up in the hands of a blackmailer and the details could go public any day. His only hope is to ditch the spotlight and hide in the shadows. Then he meets someone with a solution.

Gage Marx is a PI who specializes in impossible problems. He's used to solving the unsolvable. The only thing he's ever declared a lost cause is himself.

From the start, Cole's case holds more surprises than Gage expects. The most shocking is that for the first time in over a year, Gage’s broken heart is showing signs of life.

Their plan to wade slowly into love comes apart when an unexpected opportunity threatens to turn it all into a long-distance relationship. Will occasional reunions be enough to keep them together or will their separate careers tear them apart?

Excerpt

Gage woke to the jostling of his mattress. The shadowed figure at the end of the bed had him up from his pillow in an instant. He fumbled for the light on the nightstand, his heart hammering. One hundred watts burst into the room and Gage dropped his head back, breathing to the ceiling.

Cole sat at the end of the bed, still in his rumpled clothes.

"You scared the shit out of me," Gage told him.

"Sorry." Cole slumped.

The misery on his face silenced the rest of Gage's lecture. "It's okay."

"I couldn't sleep. I keep thinking about everything. I feel so…." Cole's face twisted into a smudge of anger and sadness.

"Violated?" Gage supplied when it was apparent Cole couldn't come up with the words.

"That." Cole nodded.

"Betrayed? Pissed?"

Cole kept nodding until the last word. "Oh, I passed pissed an hour ago. I'm whatever you are when you reach the molten lava stage. If I thought it would make me feel any better, I'd ask for a meeting so I could spit in his face."

"I don't blame you." Gage leaned against the headboard.

"I also don't want to be alone." Cole looked at him, sad green eyes and crooked eyebrows asking permission.

Gage stared back, searching Cole's face for a lust-inspired ploy to get into his bed. He didn't find one.

"Why don't you sleep in here?" Gage offered.

It was a mistake, and he knew it. There would be no way to maintain any kind of boundary after a night together, even if all they did was sleep. The alternative was to send Cole back to the couch alone, where he would sit in the dark, ruminating over the betrayal. Gage would stare at the ceiling over his bed, imagining him doing it. He'd end up back on the couch, holding Cole and watching infomercials until one of them fell asleep again.

"Thank you." Cole climbed under the covers and nestled into the empty pillow.

Gage turned off the light and settled back where he'd been, pretending he could see Cole on the other half of the bed until his eyes adjusted and Cole returned to a shadowed form beside him.

They stared at each other for a moment.

"I know you have your rules," Cole said quietly, "and I still want you working my case. I also think I want you as something more than that."

"Are you sure it's not because you're feeling vulnerable? I don't want to take advantage of you not having anyone else to talk to."

Cole reached out and rested a hand on his arm. "I'm not sure of anything, but I know what I'm starting to feel, and I'm pretty sure I know why. It's more than the case."

Gage covered Cole's hand, caressing his knuckles, using touch to mask the silence. It was more than the goal of maintaining a professional distance. He didn't think he was ready for a physical relationship. Not yet. Not in that house with a room full of similar memories right across the hall.

"Is there a way to make that happen?" Cole asked. "Assuming you want to."

The question wasn't new. Gage had already wasted hours thinking about what he would do if Cole kissed him again, digging for loopholes he could bend his ethics around. His only solution was to hand the investigation off to someone who would let him stick his nose back in it at will. No one could fault him for keeping an eye on a situation that affected a man he was dating.

"I could let the law firm take over. They'll be doing most of the work on it from now on, anyway."

"I don't want to take money away from you just so I can date you."

"I have other clients."

"People put lawyers on retainer, right? What if I do that with you?"

"I would hope you don't have things like this happening often enough to be worth that."

"This would be so much easier if you were a bodyguard or something."

"They aren't supposed to get involved with clients either."

"FBI agent?"

"Nope."

"Federal Marshall?"

"Sorry."

"Bounty hunter?"

"Sure, if you didn't mind me hauling you in for skipping bail anyway. Otherwise, I'd be aiding a fugitive."

"This is much sexier in the movies."

Gage smiled. "That's why they call it fiction."

Alex has everything going for him. He’s the quarterback of the football team. He has a great group of friends. He’s popular. He’s got stellar grades. So, why is he so enamored by the new kid from the Bay Area?

Meanwhile, Jamie doesn’t understand why the quarterback of Scalia’s football team could possibly want to be friends with him: the closeted Jewish kid. It’s the last thing he needs to worry about after leaving California for Jacksonville. He planned on just keeping his head down and finishing his senior year quietly to get into his dream school.

Against the odds, though, they become close friends in an area that would teach them to be enemies. But, over time, their friendship turns into something deeper – scaring the both of them. Will their love survive the trials of being in a homophobic environment? Or will it all prove to be too much for them?

Excerpt

I’ve been in Florida less than a day and already I’m in a life or death standoff. The gator stares at me, his eyes glowing against the moonlight. I stare at the gator, my eyes wild with fear. Shit, I’m gonna die.

He could have been small as a chihuahua or large as Godzilla, but in my California brain he was the most terrifying thing I’d seen in my life. This was not how I expected my senior year to start.

Me dying was the cherry on top, really.

It wasn’t like I had much to live for anymore, after leaving the Bay Area and all. My friends. My childhood. My family. It was all gone now. I had come out just a month before, ready to live my truth in an accepting area until...poof.

“We’re moving,” my mother had told me. “To Florida.”

“Just like that?” I’d asked her.

“Just like that,” she’d told me.

“Why?” I’d prodded, hoping maybe there could be some solution to this unbearable fate. There wasn’t.

We weren’t even in Miami either. We were in Jacksonville. Not even in Jacksonville, an hour away in some nowhere suburb called Scalia – whatever the heck that is. San Francisco to Scalia: the name of my personal horror movie.

My parents were architects. Their company decided to move them to Florida. I was suddenly in Florida. Suddenly about to become the dumbest news headline possible: LOCAL GAY KID DIES FROM GATOR. That simple, I guess.

My heart leapt towards my throat.

His tail, is it...moving?

The gator began walking, or waddling, or slithering – whatever it is gators do when they move – away from me. I stood beside my bike, nearly ready to collapse from fear and adrenaline. Finally, he crawled out of sight – back to the depths of whatever abyss from which he came.

I let out a sigh, almost sad to live another day. I got back on my bike, slowly peddling back home, tears lining my path.

I was sad. Sad about everything. Sad about leaving my friends behind. Sad about leaving my family behind. Sad about no longer being in a Jewish area. Sad about no longer being in an accepting area.

I wasn’t only sad, either. I was scared. Terrified, even. My whole life people had talked about the south like it was some far off universe, some faraway hell the Bay Area would forever be safe from. I had heard stories of how unaccepting it was, how women couldn’t choose what happens to their bodies, gay people couldn’t be teachers, trans students were expelled. Now here I was: in the south. In Florida. Back in the closet.

My eyes were red from tears by the time they stared at my bedroom ceiling, my pillow resting against my neck. I had only a week before I started school at Scalia High. What would that be like? Visions of people with confederate flags, driving trucks, and listening to country music came to my mind and immediately I was near tears once more. I wasn’t sure about many things, but I was certain of this: nothing good would come of this year.

Henry Gennevios is an enchanter with little magic, but his lack of sorcery doesn’t bother him. Growing up in the chaos of his parents’ matebond, Henry escaped into his passion for food. Now, Henry is a famous chef with dozens of restaurants, best-selling cookbooks, and a successful line of kitchen products with his name slapped on them.

Seristyn Cith-Oridi was raised in his father’s elf tribe, but he’s a hybrid with no friends and a father who dictates every aspect of his life. His family life is tumultuous, but Seristyn has quietly rebelled since he was a child. He devotes his ample energy to dance classes and chasing his dreams.

On an otherwise ordinary morning, Seristyn and Henry meet. Instantly infatuated, they follow elven tradition and are mated within a few days. Despite the challenges Fate soon throws in their path, Henry and Seristyn are equally determined to build a matebond full of love and friendship.

Henry opened the door to his suite and smiled as the scent of pain au chocolat filled his senses. Near the fireplace, Seristyn stood lighting candles.

“Can you smell it?” Seristyn asked. “I ordered them online, but they weren’t scented that strong, so Amaury pumped it up with magic.”

“I love it,” Henry replied, but his attention was on his mate instead of the deliciously scented chunks of wax. The elf-griffin was wearing nothing but a pair of green linen pants that hung low on his hips. It showed off his sculpted muscles to perfection, and lust punched Henry in the gut.

“Come sit with me,” Seristyn invited, gesturing to the blankets and pillows he’d piled near the raised hearth.

Henry walked toward Seristyn and was about to lower himself to the ground when his other half stopped him with a hand to his chest.

“Clothes off, Hen.”

“Clothes off?”

Seristyn nodded and undid the drawstring of his pants. They fluttered to the floor and Seristyn stepped out of them. Henry’s gaze locked onto the hardening cock rising from its nest of auburn curls. Then Seristyn gracefully sank to the mound of cushions. “Yes. I have plans for us, but they require us to be naked.”

Although Henry had asked Seristyn to stretch their intimacy to include penetration, it hadn’t happened in the past two weeks since he’d broached the subject. Excited that Seristyn was finally willing to fuck him, Henry ignored his blush as he swiftly undid the buttons of his vest and button-down.

“This is fun, I should’ve asked you to strip for me sooner,” Seristyn said. “Can I pour you a glass of Merlot?”

“Yes, thank you.”

Love swelled in Henry as Seristyn slid the cork out of the wine bottle and gave his full attention to filling their goblets. It allowed Henry to avoid feeling awkward as he slipped his shirt off, yanked off his socks, and went to work on his trousers. Affection wasn’t the only thing Henry was feeling. His dick reacted to the enticing Seristyn and the plans he’d made for him and Henry.

“I hope you’re hungry, I have a few treats for us,” Seristyn said as Henry shucked his pants and underwear. “I have a bunch of stuff, and I had some help putting this together. Although I nearly had to fight your brother for the bread. I didn’t realize that was his favorite food or I would’ve brought home two loaves. Maybe we can find some breads for him tomorrow.”

It was rare on a Sunday not to find Henry and Seristyn shopping for food. Henry liked to share his passion for ingredients and recipes with his mate, and they both enjoyed sampling new things and finding fresh items for the week.

“We will, mon chéri. Our family were terrible distractions, you know,” Henry said, sitting cross-legged across from Seristyn and taking a glass from him.

Seristyn laughed. “Thankfully, I didn’t need too much time to set this up. They were kind enough to put the platter together.” Seristyn reached for a silver tray filled with treats.

“Are we to eat all of this?” Henry said, taking in the assortment of cured meats, cheeses, bread, fruits, macarons, and croissants.

“We’ll snack a little.” Seristyn leaned forward, brushed their lips together, and popped a strawberry into Henry’s mouth. “Then, after we’ve built up an appetite, we’ll polish it off.”

“Seristyn?”

“Yes?”

“Are we finally getting our second hoop?”

Seristyn’s smile was wicked, and Henry’s dick twitched in response. “Yes.”

His ass clenching in anticipation, Henry gave himself over completely to Seristyn’s plan. They shared sweet kisses in between bites of food, but Henry was desperate for more. Henry grabbed his wine and guzzled the entire thing in an unsuccessful attempt to cool his heated blood.

A sigh escaped him when Seristyn cupped his neck and unhurriedly tongued him. The hybrid pulled away and moved the platter aside so it was no longer resting on their fortress of blankets and pillows.

“More wine?” Seristyn asked.

“Later, mon chéri.”

“Do you want to lie down with me?”

“I would love nothing more.”

AI HAS EVOLVED INTO LIFELIKE SYNTHETIC HUMANS CALLED ALPHAS.

Alpha, Vincent Zakari is as roguishly handsome as he is cunning.

Made to feel, yet with callous disregard for most people, he hides his synth identity beneath a charming smile.

To foil a major political threat, he worms into the life of an orphaned billionaire, but soon finds himself at the mercy of his own emotions.

Plagued by horrors from a tragic past, Yugo Jordan has shields for days, and never leaves his New York estate.

When another disaster forces him outside, he meets the insanely attractive Vincent, and is quickly undone by dark eyes and honey-slick words.

To Vincent, Yugo's a fatal error in the making.

And to Yugo, Vincent is weakness personified, steadily breaking down those walls.

Both are helpless against the pull between them, even while confronted by stubborn inner demons and looming external threats.

As they navigate this heated, uncharted territory, they must also unravel the lies and secrets surrounding them…

or cave beneath all-too-human flaws.

Synthetic Code for Sincerity is an addictive blend of light scifi and heavy MM romance — deeply sensual, evocative, and marked by thrilling moments sure to stay with you long after turning that last page.

It's the first in a series where each installment has a different couple, but follows an overarching plotline.

Readers can expect a host of morally grey characters, a smug bastard MC who's brought down to his knees, another MC who's shoved out of his comfort zone, first times, and a happy-for-now ending.

Excerpt

"Strip for me, Yugo. Nice and slow."

He opened his eyes, blinking repeatedly to clear the haze. As he focused, he spotted Vincent—already several paces away, and seated on the high back. His dark eyes locked on Yugo, fiercely intense and with hidden depths, pulling Yugo to a trance-like state.

Yugo couldn't help it, he lost himself completely and before he knew it, he began to strip. He removed his jacket, took off his shirt, slipped out of his pants, all without looking away. He should've been wracked by nerves, but those eyes had him in the tightest grip and he'd never felt more powerful, more desirable. He cracked a smile and took his time with his shorts, inching here and there as he slowed things down to an aching halt.

Something wicked flicked across Vincent's stare. In a flash, Yugo was fully naked and up against the window. The glass sent chills down his spine. A solid weight crowded over him, filling his nose with spicy-sweet as lips met lips.

Things unraveled quickly from there, flying into a whirlwind of tongue, heat, and very few breaths, becoming a kiss of greed. It seared through Yugo, stealing moans and cries too wanton for common decency. He hadn't known he could sound like this. Wild and desperate. Like his life depended on it…
